We (the DDNA) received the following letter:

February 18, 2000
To: Our Neighbors near Marquez Place
From: The Lofts

We are local builders who wish to create a mixed use/mixed income loft community at 1010 Marquez Place. We are sensitive to the wishes of our future neighbors and would like to get your feedback on what we are proposing.

Please come to a neighborhood meeting to discuss our plans. It will be held at the Unitarian Church In the Fellowship Hall located at 107 W. Barcelona. The meeting is Wednesday, March 1st at 6. p.m.

Who we are: We are a small company and have been building and selling for three years. The Lofts are combined use, residential and business condominiums with bright, open, flexible spaces designed to meet a variety of needs. Our residents vary in age from 24 months to 80 years. People have homes and businesses in about 50% of our spaces. Occupations include professionals, internet companies, designers, and artists. One thing that we all have in common is full time residency in 8anta Fe and a desire to own well designed, well built buildings.

Our proposal for your neighborhood: Our idea is to build a project that will serve as a buffer between the single family homes in the Don Diego area and the commercial zone that begins on Marquez Place and extends out to Early Street and the Cordova area.

Home prices will start at $150,000, with office suites and studios starting at $125,000. The lofts are designed to allow for tall spaces; the buildings will be made of frame and stucco construction with balconies, significant parking and landscaping. We anticipate four groups of buildings on 2.6 acres. With an average of 14,800 Sf per group 26% of the land will be covered by buildings. We would like to begin building by the end of the year.

Please feel free to contact me at 474-3600. We look forward to meeting you and discussing your ideas.

Sincerey,

Don Wiviott
