- Dave Morgan described the Storm Drainage Project, funded by a government
grant, that aims to slow erosion of arroyos and by implementing some demonstration
projects in Santa Fe that might serve as a model for the city and county and lead
to a draft local ordinance for erosion control activities. He encouraged people to
attend upcoming day-long workshops on May 26th at Cloud Cliff Bakery/ Cafe and June
9th at E J Martinez. School. There are 4 major arroyos in the Don Diego
Neighborhood: Arroyo Tenorio, Acequia Madre one behind the Temple Beth Shalom and
one by Houghton Street.
- Maria Baca of the Don Canuto Neighborhood updated the group on The Lofts
development. District Judge Hall decision has yet to be filed. City Council has
20 days to appeal. Property is still under contract to the developer. $1.026 M is
the price for the land. Issues surrounding the decision are Early Neighborhood
Notification and authority of city council to consider health, safety and welfare
issues, traffic/zoning, and alternative C2 uses that may be more appropriate for
the site.
- Hubert Van Hecke updated the group on the Traffic Calming program. Carrie
LaCrosse is head of the program. DDNA has submitted two projects for ranking,
study and implementation: Camino de Los Marques and Don Diego Avenue. Funds are
limited. Project needs signatures from on third of affected residents. We have the
signatures.
- Anna Richards reported the Entrada Park Project is back in engineering where
Robert Romero is getting estimates for construction of the first phase, curb and
gutter. Either the Locals or a contractor will do the work. DDNA wants to determine
the slope, layout and materials for paths. We will write a letter to Engineering
and Planning and the city manager making our desired involvement in decision making
and implementation very clear. Others will look into a polymer/soil mixture that
may be a good alternative surface to cement for ADA compliant paths.
- Historic District boundaries are being surveyed.. Utility poles are exempt
from HD restrictions.
- Railyard - Laura Wilson, Judy Stephens, and Leslie Davis spoke about the
railyard. People were asked to convey their desires and concerns about the railyard
development to Laura Wilson our official representative, by May 23rd.
- Laura announced that the Friends of the Park are sponsoring presentations
of designs for the Railyard Park by students of landscape architecture from UNM
on May the at El Museo, at 10am.
- City Councilor Karen Heldmeyer reported that the Council will hear issues
relating the Early Neighborhood Notification ordinance on ?? at 5:15 pm in City
hall. The vote will be close so people were encouraged to contact other councilors
and ask them to support ENN.
- Next meeting is Sunday, September 16th at 2:30 pm. We will try for the same
location.
Respectfully Submitted,
Anna Richards
