Current Traffic Concerns
- Alternate drop-off and pick-up before and after-school on Siringo and Yucca by frustrated parents, which results in unsafe crossing of these streets by students.
- On school grounds, drop-offs and pick-ups where students must cross moving cars to get to school buildings.
- Insufficient stacking room to accommodate cars dropping-off and especially picking up students resulting in backups on Yucca and Siringo.
- Inefficient use of available space for drop-off and pick-ups without traffic supervision.
- Potential for accidents making left turns from Vo-Tech onto Siringo and from south campus onto Zia.
- Traffic congestion during drop-off and pick-up would prevent access to the fire lane in case of emergency.
- Buses using the same access routes as cars cause additional traffic congestion on Yucca for students and parents.
- Lack of multiple drop-off and pick-up locations consolidates all traffic to one ingress and egress. Multiple locations previously dispersed these activities.
- Proposed road connecting to the traffic light at Siringo and Llano would be available to only teachers and parents and be of no benefit to less experienced student drivers.
- Proposed road connecting to Siringo and Llano or other long-term permanent solutions will not address short-term and mid-term needs.
- Proposed road connecting to Siringo and Llano should be designed and graded to be compatible with student and vehicular safety, especially during inclement weather.
