Hospital Drive bike paths

Hospital Drive runs from Galisteo on the left (North) to St. Michaels Drive. It is a vast expanse of asphalt, with a few entrances to the medical and office buildings. No parking either side.

The horizontal dimensions are to scale, vertical is exaggerated. Note the distance from the dirt on one side to the dirt on the other side is almost 60 feet.

First we remove all the silly bulbouts. Then, starting on the center line and going both ways, we have 11' car lanes, then a 6' island with bushes and weeds, then a 6' bike path (on the already existing asphalt). The curb and sidewalks are left as is.


Below is a sketch of a section of the trajectory. There are openings in the islands on both sides when there is an entry. The bike path asphalt is colored green.
This is not an very expensive modification, since all the necessary asphalt, as well as the sidewalks and curbs are already there.
