detail map 10 - Galisteo

Description:
Marquez terminates as a 'T' intersection, running into Galisteo. Galisteo carries one-way traffic north and also needs serious traffic calming attention. Traffic turning west onto Camino de los Marquez routinely speeds and 'shaves' the corner. Traffic on Marquez, preparing to turn left onto Galisteo, routinely pauses in the middle of Marquez's width. "Near misses" between these two traffic flows are common, and accident potential is high.
Proposal:
The Proposal is to 'wind' Marquez traffic to the left. Also, the corners at the intersection would be extended, as elsewhere. These features should force traffic to slow and negotiate turns with more care. Other ideas include stop signs on Galisteo. These features would require traffic to start and complete turns in the proper lanes. The bike path terminates on Galisteo. This intersection was also selected to be raised, as indicated by the red shading. This will also help matters on Galisteo.
